The Wizards waived defender Rauwshan McKenzie and dropped defender Ofori Sarkodie, midfielder Eric Gehrig and forward Kyle Brown from their preseason roster this weekend.
A fourth round draft pick by the Wizards in 2008, McKenzie started five contests for Kansas City last season. McKenzie also made one appearance for the Wizards in 2008, starting against the then-USL Seattle Sounders in a quarterfinal of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Sarkodie, formerly of Indiana University, was drafted by the Wizards in the fourth round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. Former Loyola University Chicago midfielder Eric Gehrig and former Austin Aztex forward Kyle Brown joined the Wizards as trialists before the 2010 preseason.

The only way I’d care is if this read “OFFICIAL: Wizards Make Name, Logo Changes.”

Wow….Sarkodie didn’t even make the 2nd week of camp? Man has his stock ever plummeted.

How do you draft a player and then cut him from your roster? If your scouts were good enough you’d have seen that at the combine or during the college season. Why not trade the draft pick or take a chance and sign a USL player w/ some professional experience.

It’s called roster size limit…They can’t keep everyone they want. They will prolly get these guys in NASL teams or USL teams to let them play and take another look to see if they develope any in a year.
The wizards have senior players playing in all those positions, it doesn’t suprise me that they droped all of them. The draft is just for show, hardly any of these guys make it. Crap system that builds false help.
