Could this man’s goal scoring potential be welcomed to San Jose with open arms?
According to Elliott Almond at the Mercury News (click here for the original article and all the details), 30 year old 6 ft former FC Basel, Toulouse, and Vasco De Gama forward/left-sided Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Adelino da Silva may be coming to San Jose.
What do you think? With Gerjsten, Opara, and now Eduardo, could San Jose make the playoffs in 2010? If not, what moves does San Jose need to make to be a contender? Excited to see more and more older foreign players coming to the US or were you hoping for more younger talent? What will improve soccer in the US more?

No, Played at Basel FC in the Swiss super league, wasn’t offer a contract after the season. He started a bunch of games last season, more of a second striker than a left winger. If they got him under 150k i would say a good signing. Now SJ got to get a target forward

SJ need a target forward, attacking midfielder, and an organizing central defender. The team is making some movement in the right direction, but I am not optimistic. Go Quakes!

i’m with mark…not optimistic on this one, unless they fork over some dough for a good non-mls forward…yeah, from like arsenal or something close

somebody has to be a fan favorite now that huckerby is gone.

^Agreed…I think he makes SJ better, if they don’t over-pay.
Speaking of, THEY know he’s not the one who plays in London, right Patrick?

Eduardo da Silva is Croatian. Born in Brazil, but became a Croatian citizen after moving there at age 15. He is a famous forward, having played for Dinamo Zagreb and Arsenal as well as the Croatian national team. He’s recovered from his broken leg injury and has been making regular appearances in all competitions for the English club.
If Eduardo even considered the MLS, I’m sure it would be to a team like Toronto FC. Preki is Serbian and can speak Eduardo’s language. Also, Toronto has a very large Croatian population.
