“De los Cobos, 51, has led El Salvador to its first ever final round of World Cup Qualifying.”
What? El Salvador has been to two World Cups, so I’m pretty sure they’ve made the final round of qualifying before.
I had to look it up but if you’re referring to the Hexagonal, which started in 98, they reached it that same year.

THIS IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB HANDS DOWN IF YOU LOOK AT THE WAY HE HAD EL SALVADOR PLAYING IT WAS ….”ART” TAKEN II CONTRAST OF THE EL SALVADOR OF OLD OF COURSE THIS IS THE KIND OF LEADER THAT THE MLS NEEDS. ALSO I THINK SOMEONE SHOULD LOOK INTO THE COACH OF PUEBLA “LITTLE BALD GUY” LOOK HOW WELL THEY PLAYED IN THE HOME STRECH OF THE MEX.

This looks like a big win for Fire fans…BUT, he HAS been a national team coach before, so you have to wonder how long he’d stick around in MLS if another Central/South American federation came calling.
B-Mac as player/coach…that’s pretty far-fetched, but it’d be interesting!

“1st ever final round”??? wtf…El Salvador has reached 2 world cups, reached the final round moren than a handfule, back in early 90s was the one prior to this recent one.Its best team was the one that reached Spain ‘82.
De Los Cobos is a great coach. He picked up that national team. He did it with a horrendous national league, and no I’m not hating. I am from El Salvador and the league is horrible. Not only a great coach, but a great person.
I’m a Galaxy fan, but I hope Chicago gets him.
