According to Mundo Deportivo and Goal.com things may be shaping up to bring the Real Madrid star to MLS as soon as the summer of 2010:
According to Mundo Deportivo, Raul will head to the States at the conclusion of the current season. Despite having a year left on his contract with Real, the Spanish club is reportedly trying to get the captain to leave early and leave the seven million euros of his final contract year behind.
Back in February, Raul expressed genuine interest in coming to MLS after his contract expired with Real Madrid, saying: “As an experience, not just for me but also for my family, I could try to play a year probably in the United States,” and adding that any move would likely come in 2011. However there now seems to be a real possibility of the move coming a year earlier.

I’m a huge fan of Raul. If he does come to MLS I’d hope Chicago Fire.

I’d love to see him in MLS. He’d kill defences if he can stay fit as he is getting on. I could see him going to Seattle or DCU.

Seattle Sounders FC. Think about it, Ljungberg, Montero go upfront and then Raul becomes the creative MF to replace freddie.
Joe Roth will for sure all the Real Madrid Captian to Seattle’s roster.

He’s going to the NJRB’s when the league adds another DP

San Jose has been waiting for the International marquee player and Domestic Star it was promised by the league YEARS ago.
Earthquakes–first in line. Welcome to the Bay Area, Gonzo.

I think you guys are crazy if you think he won’t end up anywhere other than in a Los Angeles Galaxy uniform if he does come to America. Be real, he’s a world star who played with David Beckham. I couldn’t see him going anywhere but the LA Galaxy. Raul wouldn’t come to America to live in Seattle. Chicago, New York, maybe even DC have a chance, but realistically you know he’d want to play for the Galaxy, and that’s probably what he means when he says “coming to America”. Also, why would Raul come to America to play in San Jose. I don’t think Raul is jumping at the opportunity to play in San Jose for a loosing team in a college baseball stadium.

raul a smurf? JAJAJAJAJAJA yeah right.
i agree that the G’s would be first in line, but NY, chicago and DC could all be viable options.

I dont think it will happen. Even if it does, i dont think 1 season is enough. It isnt really fair too whatever team picks him up, for him too just stay for 1 year. They pay x amount too bring him in, pay his contract, and they know he wont stay loyal.
He would be great for the mls, but for such a short term, it might not be worth it when a team can spend that money on someone that will be with the team, and commit too it.

Beckham, Raul, Donovan would be an interesting Galaxy team.
