It has come to my attention from a reliable source that the Chicago faithful will see a similair coaching scenario as the 2008 one. When Juan Carlos Osorio left the club in late 2007 for the NYRB, many awaited to see what changes the club would bring to the coaching staff. A familiar line, “Long search ends at home” will be seen again as the Fire will most likely bring someone up from the assistants to take the full job. Matkovich joined the Fire staff in 2009 after spending his 2007 and 2008 seasons with TFC and Chivas USA respectively. Matkovich was also led the U-18 USMNT to a gold medal at the Australia Youth Olympic Festival in January 2009. Still, in my opinion, that is absolutely not a legitimate reason for him to take over. He also has very little experience especially after only assisting teams that were not so succesful.
The name Claudio Ranieri was also floating around after a short spell at Roma where he proved to be the wrong man for the job. Although Ranieri is a long shot, many Fire fans hope that someone of his likes takes over the head job. What do you think?

hire again juan carlos osorio…….go for it. But the MLS has to expand to different coaches no matter if they dont know crap about the league. The league needs new coaches. New blood, new systems, hire a mexican, french, spaniard and teach them english. It has to happen sonner than later

Yea, let’s all put $5 down and buy the team from Hauptman. He has done nothing positive for the club.

Why wouldn’t Matko do well? Look at how many players he has developed when he was with the Magic and has gained much experience behind some great coaches. Need to give him a chance to prove himself and what better place then where he has spent a majority of his life – Best wishes to Matko.

Seriously, can we have someone with some experience as a head coach? Is Hauptman inept or a cheap son of a bitch? Or both? I don’t know anything about Matkovich, but the Fire needs experience.

Please let it NOT be Matkobitch. He never even played professionally. The extent of his playing career topped out at Lewis University. Are you kidding me that Hauptman is considering him!?!
