The United States Soccer Federation has asked the Irish Football Association for a friendly fixture to be played in March or May as part of their preparation for their 2010 World Cup campaign. The USA play England in their first game on June 12th, and a match against a country playing a broadly similar style is seen as useful preparation.

  4. Yeah, but after the rather impolite treatment from Scotland’s fans last time, I’m not surprised that the USSF would prefer to play elsewhere.

The Republic would have been a nice opponent.

  6. Norn Iron plays similar to England? Weren’t we fed the same line about Morocco playing an “African style” just like Ghana? How’d that turn out?
