INCOMING: Kevin Kyle to Toronto FC?

Posted by mlsrumors Sunday, December 6th, 2009 at 1:25 am

It has become oh so predictable. Every off season the UK player to Toronto FC rumo(u)rs start.

As the person who sent us this story wrote:

“The annual British player to Toronto FC derby looks to be starting early this season.”

Kevin Kyle has previously been linked to the San Jose Earthquakes. That rumo(u)r ironically kicked off about the same time last year….

This latest “bit of goss” comes courtesy of the fine British publication News of the World (tounge-in-cheek):

The 28-year-old Scotland hitman is in the final six months of his contract and that has alerted Johnston who sees the giant striker as the perfect man to lead Toronto’s front line.

Kyle is Killie’s best paid player on £2,000 a week, but he could double that wage if the former Sunderland and Coventry hitman opts to move to Canada with Johnston able to offer him a £200,000-a- year deal.

  2. TFC will sign someone and still be average at best. They have too many “creative” midfielders for one. They aren’t balanced position wise. Mo Johnston is a terrible GM and manager. John Carver was smart to leave.

  4. this is an other reason why this tool of GM that tfc have needs to go… Never seen this Kyle guy play… but just increasing 100% of guys wage why not offerring a more modest raise?? … Additionally has no MLS experience why not look for someone in the league??
i predict if he signs will follow the steps of rohan ricketts… a useless overpaid overrated dufus that plays for TFC just because has played in europe…

Mo really has a heavy hand on paychecks… and just loves to give money away no wonder we had to make dichio retire… Anyway can;t wait till this moron of a gm that we got leaves and stop butchering such a beatiful franchise as Toronto…

  6. TFC needs a couple of wingers (one of they push Barrett out there) and one solid centre back.

  8. Well, if he’s a big striker, TFC COULD use him. The team is going to get a big over-haul this off-season, so expect some of the surplus midfielders to go.
Could be a good signing…”COULD BE”!

  10. If TFC needs to let Guevara go to make this happen I think we’d be happy to have him out here in Seattle. we could use another attacking mid and set piece specialist.

  12. With the Rohan Ricketts thing, Mo probably just looked at his former teams and saw Arsenal and Spurs. Rohan hardler, if ever, played for those teams. Kyle has experience and has scored many goals. Go ahead and get him TFC.
