The 2009 Chicago Fire season has finally come to an end after being cut short on a penalty shootout with the ‘09 edition of the Cinderella tale, Real Salt Lake. The year also marks an end for possible as much as four starting players including: Chris Rolfe, Brian McBride, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, and even Gonzalo Segares. Segares has not been playing for the team for a couple good weeks now shortly after the All-Star break due to injury reasons. This, however, gave the chance for a young prospect to shine by the name of Mike Banner who was forced to play a position he was “naturally unfit.” Do not be suprised if Segares will part ways with the Fire as his lockeroom nametag was placed on the “Wall of farewells.” An image above shows Chris Rolfe placing his tag on their, as well as Gonzalo Segares’s seems to be on there as well. This leaves massive gaps for the fire for the highly questioned 2010 season. With Hamlett appearing to being on his way out, who will be his replacement? Who’s going to take El Cuauh’s spot? Who are going to be the two strikers up top? Lot’s of unanswered questions are hanging with many thoughts and rumors. Apperantely, Conor Casey is on his way to the Windy City, who knows? More is to follow as these highly anticipated questions get heated up for answers.

Sega was in Belgium last week on trial. No idea how it went. He’s gone. Shame, big rebuilding job for whomever comes in for the Fire. New coach too….all change.

Hamlett “appearing to be on his way out?” He’s already been fired. Like, a week ago. Way to stay on top of things, MLSR.

This was an older post that I couln’t get published for a while. I was more focused on getting all the pics on there. Sorry about that.

Losing Prideaux, Segares, and Myrie means there is no depth on the back line. Blanco and Rolfe are gone too. Probably going to lose a couple of more players. For a grand total of HALF THE TEAM. Unless Philly or somebody add a major DP in January it is going to be nothing but Fire in the January headlines.
If they all stay, Busch, Ward, Conde, Brown, Robinson would not be a bad defense. The Fire have cap space by default of losing so many players. I really hope they get Connor Casey, Nick Garcia, Amado Guevara, Robbie Fowler or Maciej Zurawski, or any DP, etc.
A head coach would be nice too.

David Gubala is a racist little halfwit that does not speak on the behalf of the Fire, Section 8, or any other respectable organization.

You are worried about losing Prideaux and Myrie? Prideaux was a mixed bag and Myrie didn’t play a single minute. Segares, ugh, that does suck, but I’m not too worried.

ADF no you do not want Nick Garcia

Myrie more so than Prideaux. Myrie was 21 and could develop into a legit player. Roy Myrie is a good player. Prideaux was near the end of his career anyway, so replacing him was with merit. The Fire were old last year, and they brought back Brown and McBride, both of whom I am glad to have back but are not any younger.
The point is that the Fire now lack depth and have almost as many open roster spots as Philadelphia Union. I’m sure the draft will help and a few more moves will be made. I could go either way on Garcia, he’s a veteran but not 35 like most players the Fire go after. If TFC really don’t want Guevara I hope Chicago takes a chance on him. Not to mention there is almost certainly a Polish player who they can and will get on a free transfer.
Whatever it takes to win.
