Chicago Fired.
This man will be waving goodbye to the Chicago Fire as of today.
According to Sam Stejskal at the Chicago Tribune (click here for the Chicago Tribune staff report and all the details), the Chicago Fire have relieved Denis Hamlett of his duties as head coach and Frank Klopas will being running things until they can appoint a new head coach.
What do you think? Glad to see him go or was this a bit harsh considering he got the team to the Eastern Conference Final? Who would make a good replacement? And how will this affect the team and its roster going into 2010?

Good. A year too late. Give Roberto Mancini Blanco money. But among realistic international options, Walter “I used to play in MLS” Zenga is looking for work too. If not find a guy maybe Earnie Stewart or Joe Max Moore who is just sitting around and make him the next Preki.

seems kind of harsh. they lost a damn close game in the eastern conf finals to the eventual CHAMPS!

Santa gave me my gift early! Hammy was a joke. A high school manager at best. What a douchbag. There are alot of managers out there with a superlicense. Lets look at one of them. We need to look overseas to get our man. MLS is not the place to be looking. Europe is. Also we need to resign a player or two.

Someone fill me in and let me know why Hamlett is not liked?

Felix,
This is why Hamlett is a joke,
1. He got in a fight with arguably the best defender in the league, Bakary Soumary, leading to his departure.
2. Played Rolfe in the midfield, when he excels as a forward.
3. Always played “not to lose”-a reason why fire games tend to be somewhat boring
4. Tried to counter attack with Blanco and Mcbride. 2 of the slowest players in the league.
and many more…

True. With the personnel Chicago had this season, they should have done much better. Sure, they were second in the East, but overall they would have been fifth, behind expansion franchise Seattle. Still, it will be interesting to see if they can find better.
