FIFA today said that it “will not interfere in collective bargaining negotiations” between MLS and the MLS Players Union (MLSPU). FIFA’s position “deals a blow” to the MLSPU, which contends that MLS’ “policies on player contracts violate FIFA regulations.” Also today, global soccer union FIFPro issued a statement “calling for FIFA to take action” against MLS and the USSF. FIFA said that it considers the CBA negotiations a “domestic issue”
