The big man from club massive was in the Emerald City today, talking to the Sounders.

Here is an excerpt from the Seattle Times.

RENTON — Sigi Schmid is officially a candidate to be named head coach of Seattle Sounders FC, a prospect made clear by his appearance Thursday at Seahawks headquarters.

Schmid and general manager Adrian Hanauer met Thursday and are expected to continue the discussion about the job Friday. Schmid, who coached the Columbus Crew to the 2008 MLS championship, is no longer with Columbus after his contract expired Sunday. This is his first meeting with Sounders FC executives.

Schmid met Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren after Seahawks practice and was present as Freddie Ljungberg, Sounders FC's designated player, exchanged jerseys with Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Ljungberg is in town to take part in tonight's fashion show unveiling of the Sounders FC uniforms.

LIKE L.A. GALAXY THEY SURROUND BECKHAM WITH A BUNCH OF GARBAGES AND EXPECT HIM TO WIN. IT'S LIKE SURROUNDING MICHAEL JORDAN WITH A BUNCH OF MEDIOCRE PLAYERS AND EXPECTING HIM TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS

  12. Seattle hasn't signed him yet and i have not heard anything about the Crew offering him a new contract either.

With Guermo just signing I'm sure the front office has been busy negotiating new contracts for all the players. The coach, must be falling behind on the pecking order...or he is asking for outrageous wages.

  14. David Beckham sucks!! look at Blanco and Guillermo, they were surrounded around mediocre players and they were on the top of the league!!!

    Crew in first!
    Fire in second
LA in 13 out of 14!!!

plus Blanco's and guillermo's stats are better then beckham

beckham only shines when he is surrounded by great players!

beckham needs great players around him just to have success!

    beckham + alone = SUCKS

  16. I would have to say that both blanco and quille are great players LEGENDS in some peoples eyes, however as a true soccer fan, I would have to say that they were not the BESt players on there respective teams this year

    (Rogers for the Crew)
    (thorington for chicago)

so your comment about those players being stuck around mediocre players is completely off base. While Landon was tearing up the league you would have a problem with the rest of th galaxy squad. Becks is a great player, he just needs better players and a solid base to start winning, changing coaches every week does not help.

  18. Hey anonymous, please explain, are you saying that Robbie Rogers was a more athletically gifted player or are you saying that Robbie Rogers played better and was more of an asset to Columbus, because if it was the latter you are a moron

  20. If Sigi is open to staying in Cbus, what with GBS staying and the squad he spent three years constructing being in place, talking with Seattle forces the Hints to up their offer.
So talking w/ Seattle is smart in any event.
Some coaches build squads, some manage them. Sigi may well be ready for the next challenge in a bigger, more cosmo market, with serious ownership.
Gotta think Cbus is in trouble unless they get real generous. And Seattle may still just beat any offer Cbus puts on the table.
