Cue the huge stream of DP rumors linked with TFC. Last off season there were many names connected with the aspiring and well supported Canadian club. So if the name in this rumor sounds familiar then it is because he was linked with TFC over the summer.
On to the rumor...
This info comes from Kristian Jack (THE SCORE)....he's usally spot on with his TFC rumors...but lets just keep it at that..a rumor!!! :)....This could be huge...along with rumors of DERO coming home...TFC could be a serious contender next season!! ;)
Toronto FC fans want a designated player now. John Carver wants a designated player now and its looking more and more likely that this is going to happen. I am hearing today that people around Toronto FC have been talking about a possible swoop for Benfica's Nuno Gomes and some staff members have gone as far as to cut out his head and place it on top of a Toronto FC jersey. The 32-year-old Benfica striker would be a perfect fit as the club's 1st ever player. What do you guys think? Let us know.....

I could see him work with DeRo, but i think maybe his best playing days are past him...He would add some more buzz around the city of Toronto and jersey sells would rise too and the never hurts

If they can get both of them, fuggedaboutit they'll be a quality side, but if they can only go after one they should go for DeRo

I think you're the exception. The Portuguese in Toronto have a very easy time hopping bandwagons on anything to do with portuguese soccer.

Gomes and Dero coming to Toronto, looks like we could be more competitive next year. All we need now is two new Center-Fullbacks to help us out, perhaps a right-back as well as I would love to see Marvel Wynne play on the wing. I think that we would have to give up a couple of our firsts in the draft to get Dero though.
When Toronto plays in NE this should get a good amount of people there.

There's a lot of DeRo talk to TFC. It better happen, because many people will be mad. Why don't TFC go and get Quaresma for their DP. I heard he was waived, so will there be a transfer fee?
DeRo won't come to Toronto..He was one of the first ones to complain about how much he hated the playing surface at BMO field after the WCQ against Jamaica in Toronto in August..

^ That's exactly why I don't want Gomes. There are certainly a lot portuguese TFC fans but a lot of the portuguese community are the typical eurosnobs who blab on about how Benfica would rape TFC 10-0 (even tho TFC has played them to a draw). They'd all drive up the cost of scalped tickets just to come to games with their portuguese flags just to cheer for an individual.
