OUTGOING: Ricchetti to LA Galaxy? Mexico?

Posted by MLS Rumors Friday, November 21, 2008

Although he wants to stay, the Argetinean FC Dallas defender Pablo Ricchetti thinks he will not be playing at Frisco Park next season.

According to the Dallas newspaper Diario La Estrella, since Ricchetti and the team could not agree on a new salary, the defender will start looking for another team. "After two years playing here, I believe I am not getting paid enough", said Ricchetti. "So, after this week, my agent will ask for authorization to negotiate with the LA Galaxy".

Why LA Galaxy?

"The Coach [Bruce Arena] already contacted us and I believe we will be able to agree on a contract that will satisfy both parties"

Ricchetti said he has also received some offers from Mexico, and he is thinking about the possibility of playing there next season.

What do you think (specially FC Dallas fans) about this? Should Richetti get a salary increase and stay, or should Dallas simply let him go?

  2. I am a season ticket holder for FCD. Ricchetti is probably the best player on the team.

What the hell is going on with our front office?

  3. According to

    http://hubpages.com/hub/Top-100-Salaries-in-Major-League-Soccer

Richetti is ranked #86 on the MLS pay scale. He is underpaid and should leave Dallas.

  4. If they are not willing to increase his salary, he should go.

He is a good player (potentially the best on his team) and he deserves more...

  6. The Dave Dir era of .500 futbol and playoffs every year is looking like the Lost City of Atlantis for this pathetic franchise.

Hitchcock is the worst GM in the league, period.

  8. If he's that good why would the Gals ever pick him up...our FO must continue the tradition of hiring over-the-hill shitty defenders to makes sure we retain our status as MLS's crown jewel...

Not gonna happen...LA will find a way to f-it up. Either that or he'll get here and his knees will magically fall off.

  10. The potential problem with LA is that he'd have to go through MLS's rediculous "no free agent" process where FCD retains the rights to sign him within MLS.

So the end result of this will probably be MLS will lose a skilled player because of a dumb, dumb, dumb, system.

  12. if a player was still under contract, wouldn't an organization talking to him be considered tampering? if bruce arena spoke to him, shouldn't they be penalized by the league and give us beckham?

  16. FCD needs to pay him. He's arguably their best player. A veteran. A leader, class player. If they do let him go it might not be too bad, since the dwindling attendance will be even less next year with SH's pet players the ones getting time, no one will care or see them play anyway!!!!Management is terrible and getting worse.
