OUTGOING: Blanco is officially a Santos Laguna player

Posted by MLS Rumors Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Cuauhtemoc Blanco is already in Mexico training with his new team: Santos Laguna.

Our good friends of MLS en Espanol-Soccer=Futbol just posted the breaking news and have sent us a translation of the article...

"Just a few minutes ago the president of Santos Laguna announced that Cuauhtemoc Blanco is officially a Santos Laguna player. Alejandro Irarragorri, president of Santos, confirmed to EL UNIVERSAL that Blanco will join the team for the "Liguilla" to replace Christian Benitez -Ecuadorian forward - who was recently injured".

Cuahtemoc Blanco is with the team since Wednesday night when he arrived to the team's facilities in Avandro.

But, why signing Blanco for only six games?

"We believe he is a warrior, he's got a great spirit and he is here to bring more excitement to our fans", said the president. "We know he has to go back to Chicago Fire after these six games, but we also know he will come here to play his heart out "

So, what do you think? Is this a good move for Blanco and the Chicago Fire?

  2. They are allowed to bring in new players for the playoffs? That seems pretty odd.
