As the MLS season is approaching its end, there are various players that MLS clubs may be targeting which would dramatically increase the quality of the league. MLS-Rumors.net takes a look at five players that MLS clubs should seriously consider signing.
Patrick Kluivert (Fwd) 32 years old - The Dutch National teams all time leading scorer (40 goals in 79 appearances) was once one of the top strikers in Europe, enjoying a productive period with FC Barcelona from 1998 to 2004. Since than he has played for various clubs in Europe and most recently with Lille in the French League where he tallied 4 goals in 11 matches. He is currently unattached. Kluivert is still only 32 years old and is an adept passer of the ball as well as a solid goalscorer. If healthy and motivated he would be one of the most skilled forwards in MLS.
Juan Sebastian Veron (Mid) 33 years old - The Argentine midfielder is currently with Estudiantes de la Plata in his native Argentina. He returned to his native country in 2006 after a succesful stay in Europe, especially in Serie A. Veron is the complete midfielder, able to dictate play as well as add to the attack. He is still regarded as a top player, being considered by the Argentine media as one of the three top players in the Argentine First Division. At his current form he would instantly be the most complete midfielder in MLS.
Gerard Lopez (Mid) 29 years old- The Spanish midfielder has had an up and down career since being brought up from the youth ranks of FC Barcelona. After impressing with Alaves and Valencia, when he was one of the most coveted players in Europe, Gerard has had his moments but injuries certainly curtailed his progress. If given confidence and if he can avoid injury Gerard possesses an elegant game and would be an instant hit in MLS.
Stefano Fiore (Mid) 33 years old- The versatile Italian midfielder was a solid player in the Italian Serie A, until joining Valencia CF in Spain. After an unsuccesful stay in Spain, Fiore restarted his career with Fiorentina, and later played with other Italian clubs, most recently with Serie B side Montova. He is currently unattached and his ability to play in the middle or on the wings would make him an interesting player for many MLS clubs.
Albert Celades (Mid) 33 years old- The Spanish defensive midfielder can claim to have played for FC Barcelona as well as arch-rival Real Madrid. Celades is a versatile defensive midfielder who has also played as a sweeper early in his career. He is noted for his passing ability as well as his versatility. He most recently concluded a 3 year stint with Zaragoza where he appeared in 71 matches notching 2 goals. Celades has the quality to be a starting central midfielder in MLS.

These are pretty realistic players and have all been tied to the MLS but honestly itd be pretty surprising to see Kluivert or Fiore (both of which have been tied to TFC) come over. Prob command too much money and havent had the track record as of recent. But hey, i could very well be wrong.
I think Kluivert and Veron are the only ones with the "big name" qualities likely to help teams with ticket sales and extraordinary shirt sales.
La "Brujita" Veron would be a great addition to the league! Unfortunately, he will not come because he wants to stay in Estudiantes. He even refused an offer from Santos (Brazil) last week.
Kluivert is the man the league should go after. He is still young and his experience could definitely help younger players.
Kluivert is a dud.Booze hound who's better at running over people with his car then playing soccer. he hasn't showed he cares about soccer in a long time.
I really hope he doesn't into the league, it would just go to show europeans it's a league for has beens.
Every single one of those guys is pathetic.
Is it me or is this more of a reason for there to be 2 DPs? There are a lot of talent that the MLS should go for, but the salary cap won't allow it. There are plenty of teams other than the Galaxy that probably be willing to spend the money.
Old news. Kluivert already hung his boots: he's coaching at Louis van Gaal's AZ Alkmaar.
