Thanks to a loyal reader for alerting us to our friends, Down The Byline blog, covering this story after they found a nugget of information regarding a potential play for the USL-1 MVP Jonathon Steele:
Here is the story as told by Mike at Down The Byline:
While cruising bigsoccer today, I came across a thread about USL-1 players that could play in MLS. One of the players on the list was this year's league MVP, Jonathan Steele of the Puerto Rico Islanders. In the thread was talk about Steele possibly coming to the Wizards, so I started looking around the net, and found this on the website, Islandersfc.net. Scroll down the page and it talks about Steele to MLS. A translation of the article says that Steele has received an invitation from Coach Onalfo and the Wizards to join the team next season. This is all just rumors at this point, but I've seen a few of Steele's games this year in USL play and in the CONCACAF Champion's League and he looks good, definitely someone that could step up to the MLS level. Steele has played in Kansas City in the past, playing with the KC Comets in the 2004-2005 season. We'll see what comes of this rumor. Our take, Steele would be an excellent addition at a reasonable price to the Kansas City Wizards.

Wikipedia says he signed with the New Jersey Ironmen on October 27th, although that could be wrong.
It may not be wrong. The Ironmen being an indoor team play a different season during the MLS and USL close season. It is possible he signed with them for a season and could still join MLS at the start of the 2009 season.
Please clean up this site, it's a good site but you're killing it with ads/widgets. I know you need ads but there are at least 40+ widget/objects on this site. 30+ are ads and each of them load independently causing your site to essentially crawl.
I might also suggest that you pop a new window for your comments area so that people can read them without have to reload the monstrosity of ads everytime they want to get back to see another article/post.
It's also odd that I come to mls-rumors.net and the first thing I see is "Classmates" or a couple three other banners before you even see the true title banner of the site (essentially your look and feel). I hope your re-design checks into a couple of this ideas.
The ads are a source of revenue. Perhaps you would prefer the ones on Bigsoccer which dance across your screen? We hear they get a lot more clicks than our banners....hmmmm....
Seriously though, during the off season the site MAY be redesigned and some ads MAY come down. We want the site to be as fast and crisp as possible. If we could be sure people would always click the top banner ads we would need no others. Wink, nudge.
great move for k.c they should also look at christian arrieta who should have won defender of teh year in USL.
