Red Bull New York fans with heart conditions may want to put their cardiologists phone number on speed dial over the next 36 hours between the big historic game and the hotstove as more news and rumors about the team is coming down the road.
Our friends at American Soccer News are on fire today with Red Bulls player transfer info thanks to a proficiency in German and their Blitzkrieg of stories.
They are now reporting the following:
Former U.S. international Gregg Berhalter could be cast aside as a cost-saving move by his German club 1860 Munich and is reportedly being courted by the New York Red Bulls, according to a German media report. The report adds that other Major League Soccer clubs could also be interested in the 35-year old’s services. New York would be a logical fit because Berhalter grew up in Tenafly, N.J. where he played with former Red Bull Claudio Reyna (who famously did not exactly live up to his billing in 1.5 seasons with the club before retiring this season).
Berhalter played collegiately at the University of North Carolina and has spent his entire professional career to date in Europe, with stints at Sparta Rotterdam, Crystal Palace and Energie Cottbus, among others.

Nooooooooooooooo....go to LA
35 ouch!
*shrug*
Hey, feel free to spend big money on an injury-prone American in his mid-30s who's lost a step and is now returning home from Europe.
Worked really well last time New York tried it.
I've always liked Gregg Berhalter... and I think he'd be a great fit for NY, who I think need quality defenders more than they need another forward...
Personally, I hope he comes to DC United, but don't see how the money numbers will add up on that one...
