This comes to us courtesy of the Newark Star-Ledger:
Conway and Parke last week became the first players in Major League Soccer history to be suspended for violating the league's Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Policy. Both players received 10-game suspensions and were fined 10 percent of their annual salary. Regardless of what happens this season, the suspension will carry over to next year, and depending on how many games the two will miss, the Red Bulls may need to consider getting rid of both in the offseason and starting 2009 clean. Parke's fate may already be sealed. His contract is up after this season and he will be a free agent. Conway, however, signed a new contract before this season. But let's assume the team wants both players to return. If the Red Bulls don't make the playoffs, Conway and Parke will miss the first eight games next year. That's more than a quarter of the 30-game schedule.
