The Los Angeles Galaxy have pulled out of their December trip to Australia to play the Queensland Roar due to David Beckham's likely loan stint with AC Milan.

Reports in the United States suggest the former England captain did not want to risk getting injured before the start of his expected short-term loan switch to the Rossoneri, over which he is currently in talks.

With the 33-year-old's availability in doubt, the MLS club have opted to call off the December 11 encounter in Brisbane.

''To avoid disappointment for the many fans that were expected to travel to Brisbane from all parts of Australia for this event, it was decided to postpone this game before tickets went on sale to the general public,'' said Tom Payne, the Galaxy's president of business operations, in a statement.

''Fans with tickets as a result of a priority pre-purchase this week will receive a full refund.

  8. Would Galaxy have sold tickets Down Under if Gold Bollocks hadn't been there? Will Led Zep sell tickets if Plant isn't there and will Beckham tour with Zeppelin to complete a week of absurd celebrity stories that no-one really gives a shit about for more than five minutes?

  10. I read in today's L.A. Times that they're still playing the game in New Zealand. It reads: "A Galaxy game against an invitational all-star team on Dec. 6 in Auckland, New Zealand, will go ahead as planned, the Galaxy said, with Beckham taking part."

Meanwhile, there is word that Becks will be with Milan when they play a friendly of their own in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, in late December, and that organizers would increase the fee paid to AC Milan if Becks plays.

  11. With the Galaxy unable to guarantee Beckham's availability -- despite the fact that he still has a contract with the club -- this kills the Galaxy's pretentions of being "world brand." Without Beckham and (likely) Donovan, the Galaxy is just another soccer club -- only worse.
