OUTGOING: Rift Between Preki and Galindo hits CD Chivas USA

Posted by MLSR Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Could the star Cuban striker be in the doghouse?

This comes to us from a reliable source on all things Chivas;

There was a big fight between Preki and Galindo, a lot of shouting by both sides. Even if Galindo is healthy he may not play any role during the playoffs. He might even be left unprotected during the expansion draft.
But lest you think that Chivas may leave Galindo unprotected during the Expansion Draft, leaving open the possibility of him re-uniting with his nearly promoted Seattle Sounders, think again. Because the following rumor comes to us from Glenn Davis of HDNet, and Dynamo All Access:
ANOTHER hot MLS RUMOR that is moving around these days has PREKI potentially moving to coach SEATTLE next year. His ties to that area come from his days of playing indoor soccer. Now it makes you wonder that with SIGI SCHMID in his final year in COLUMBUS could he end up in LA with CHIVAS again if PREKI moves? SIGI SCHMID also has been mentioned with the SEATTLE job and the move in SEATTLE certainly is coming from within MLS or that person would have been hired by now to get going in the PACIFIC NORTHWEST. SEATTLE is waiting for teams to get eliminated or the season to be over but they better get after it quickly to put things together.

So if Galindo goes to Seattle it will likely be part of a trade deal with another team if the Preki rumor is true. Of course, who knows what will happen? Things between Seattle and LA just got very interesting.

  2. MLSR - What do you have to say on the increasing Cafu rumors. Besides your first report. He said again today that he has multiple offers from MLS and is considering them all. The title of the article said he is likely to play in MLS next year. I'd take him on a non DP. What are the chances he's coming?

  4. Yes, the Cafu story is an evolving one. You have to look at who has an incentive to have a DP next year. Toronto, Real Salt Lake and of course New York come to mind. It might not even be a stretch to think that New England might make a play for him. We'll try and find out what we can and keep you posted.

  6. I guesse this means Galindo doesn't play in playoffs.
    What a shame for Chivas
