  4. Two questions MLSR

First of all what does "And Sounders - new in MLS - is already Israelis." mean? Or is it just a translation mess up?

I understand that Qwest field was made to some day host a soccer team, and that it was made so it could be down sized to make for a more intimate feel. Any idea how close the stands will be to the field and what will the capacity be?? And finally will the throwball lines be all over the pitch when the NFL and MLS seasons coincide?

    1. bad translation

    2. the capacity will be around 25,000. the stands are really close to the field, and our ownership said there may only be 1 or 2 times throwball lines will be there. this year they left did not paint the endzones blue like they usually do for the seahawks so it will be easier to switch from throwball to soccer

  7. Tim,

When Qwest is in its soccer config the stands are basically right on the pitch. 115 yards by 70 yards.

That 70 yards is all of the space for the NFL field, plus the coaches box and team area. It is a tight field for the 24,500 that was its announced configuration (Lower Bowl + all luxury boxes). with the Bleachers in the North End that becomes 27,500 and is a number that has been mentioned often. The upper bowl seats just over 30,000, but does not have any natural breakoffs so partially opening it would be odd.

The team has basically stated that unless an MLS match and an NFL game are within 24 hours of eachother the lines will not be there. With about 1/3 of the season overlapping there could be scheduling difficulties, but we are talking about 8-10 opportunities (plus playoffs). Only half of those would be home games for the NFL team, and one or two of those could be on Sunday or Monday night. Throw in an MLS Prime Time game or two and basically you have a team that AT MOST will have 3 games with NFL markings, but the goal is ZERO.

The offices of First & Goal answer their phones as "You've reached X of Seattle Sounders FC and the Seattle Seahawks." This is a true partnership, and probably part of the reason why SSFC has more season ticket holders than most teams sell tickets to an average match.

  9. thx for the responses. Got to say that I'm really impressed by Seattle so far. It looks like they are going to be an impressive club. They have clearly learned from the mistakes of other clubs.

  11. This is great! The signing should provide one final push to get season ticket holders over 20,000 or so and ensure a season long sell-out
