REPORT: "Just Who Reads MLS Rumors Anyway?"

Posted by MLSR Saturday, September 20, 2008

Well obviously, you do!

But ever wonder who else reads MLSR? So did we.

So once again we present you a partial picture. Last time we presented some demographics of what type of people read MLSR. This time we give you a geographic breakdown, and even more interesting, a partial list of firms who have been checking us out. You may be surprised who you are in good company with!

First up.....Where are you? Or rather, where are you reading from. Here are the answers (Click on the image to see a larger view.)

Quick analysis: Portland has a strong case for MLS expansion if these numbers reflect general interest. Portland is the highest ranked non-MLS city for traffic to this site.

Now here is where it gets interesting. This is where we examine on a micro level who reads MLSR or rather, what companies check out MLSR?

Well among them are DC United, Red Bull USA, ESPN, US Open Cup Finalists The Charleston Battery, Frisco Stadium (aka FC Dallas), GOL TV, Chivas USA Soccer, Gillette Stadium (aka New England Revolution), Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (aka Toronto FC), The Toronto Police Service (fan monitoring unit), Adidas Portland, The Seattle Times, Twentieth Century Fox (aka FSC/FSN) and many others. Surprise you? It surprised us.

All of these stats were courtesy of Quantcast.com

  2. No one cares who reads this website. Just post the "rumors" and move on. This is what is giving you a bad rep. Also, most stadiums have wireless internet for the press. So it could possibly be the press that is reading your site. Or someone like my brother who brings his ipod touch and uses the internet during half time. Get over it yourselves and just post RUMORS.

  4. Actually Kristen, advertisers care. Which is why this site and others like it such as Soccer By Ives periodically post demographic data. See those ads? They didn't get there by accident. Some were placed there by brokers who see our site as a good investment. They are what keep this site alive. Without them and the support of the people who read this site and write for it, it would not exist.

No one forces you to read this site or any other, if you do not like a story you have the option not to read it, if you do not like this site you have the option not read it.

That's a reasonable reaction. What is not is your criticism above.
