It appears that the LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan is determined to prove his critics wrong as he looks back to test his skill in "Futbol Europa". So much so that he fancies a trip back to Germany according to this report from Steve Goff of the Washington Post. Here is an excerpt:
"Remember this summer when USA/Galaxy forward Landon Donovan talked about giving Europe another try? England was the most discussed possible destination, but two sources told the Insider this week that German club Bayern Munich was also interested and that early-stage discussions did take place. There were several obstacles, though, including MLS's reluctance to relinquish its best American player and the league's concern about weakening the marquee Galaxy."Not to mention it no doubt, would likely sink new Galaxy honcho, Bruce Arenas plans to remake the galaxy into a sort of Quasi-World Cup 2002/2006 squad + Beckham...
Still a winter transfer can not be ruled out. Jurgen Klinsmann already brought one MLS player to Bayern, Joseph Ngwenya. And he is more than familiar with Donovan. The price would likely have to match or exceed the Altidore-to-Villarreal though.

I don't see what all the fuss is about this Landon Donovan fellow. Yeah, he's probably the best player in the USA, but its not hard is it.
I don't think he will prove his critics wrong if he moved to Bayern.
Landycakes
If Klinsman weren't a factor in this I wouldn't give it much weight, but he's spent a lot of time with LA which makes me think this rumor has wings...
I think that bitches who post Landycakes this and that bullshit are a bunch of fags. He's leading the scoring in MLS while playing the least amount of matches.

If Podolski can't get a game for Bayern then how is Landycakes going to get one...
i think it could happen, but it will not prove his critics wrong.. i dont think he will be a force as he is here in usa. he should stay here and try to keep galaxy in playoff hopes, because they suck right now...BAD!!
Never gonna happen. He isn't worth what MLS will want for him.
"The price would likely have to match or exceed the Altidore-to-Villarreal though."
If MLS thinks Donovan is worth anything close to that figure then they need their head examined. Much of Altidore's price was based on potential and future transfer value. Donovan is in his prime which means to a buyer it's a what-you-see-is-what-you-get player. Secondly, a club like Bayern doesn't care if you rack up an insane number of goals against CONCACAF teams and lead the MLS in scoring. His poor play in the last world cup and struggling to make the grade at Leverkusen are huge strikes against him as to his ability to play at the highest level. With that said, he's the type of player Klinsmann would be willing to take a chance on having seen him in LA. But 10 million for a guy who has struggled at the highest level with little or no future potential for improvement is beyond ridiculous. 3 million is much more realistic.
Why would Bayern want another striker? Maybe if Klose or Podolski are on the way out, they'll need somebody on the bench. Personally, I think he's too short for German football, but you never know with these crazy rumours here...
at least we should get something out of it...we are losing our best stricker....lets get podolski in exchange for don.
As far as skill goes, mls is about spot on with the coca cola championship league right now. Phisically, were about a notch under the bundesliga. not bad at all for a teenage league. Landycakes certainly is not the best in the mls. he cant take the beating MLS is known for. he clips at heels but give a shove an he's all out of sorts. ie. his meltdown after getting a response from Gallardo. Don't get me wrong he's talented. But I wouldnt go any more than 3-4 mil.
