  2. "St. Louis Stadium fades?" Hardly.

All that article states is that Cooper is balking at the idea of MLS raising the expansion fee to $50M, which, by the way, MLS has only discussed. The current fee is still $40M.
Cooper is griping to the press, but that hardly means St. Louis' prospects for an MLS stadium are fading.
Haven't you learned anything from witnessing the endless RSL stadium saga?

  4. Good article. Great to hear Houston is getting something done, looks like a good site too. St.Louis seems to be playing games through the media. That is really a huge project that has a lot invested in getting a soccer stadium. MLS also has a lot of interest in St.Louis. It would be hard for MLS to see the USL having a franchise on this site.

  6. Let them go to the USL1 first. Let them prove that they can win and be near-profitable before entering MLS. I think that should be the path for future MLS expansion. The MLS doesn't need any more dog-markets. Vancouver, Montreal, and Portland are proven markets. St. Louis does have a lot of history, but will that be enough to put the asses in the seats? Who knows!? Too many question marks for me to believe in St. Louis at this point.

  8. I believe Cooper is simply positioning himself to the MLS to avoid a $50mill fee. The stadium deal has been set for a year now. That is hardly fading.

  10. USL will not fly in St. Louis. There are already enough question marks as to whether StL people will cross the psychological barrier into Illinois to watch MLS games in Collinsville.
