It just so happens that Rancid is in D.C. tonight for a sold out show at the 9:30 Club and Branden made his way to RFK Stadium today to pick up some United gear at the team store. He bought a couple shirts and also took advantage of the Behind The Badge merchandise offer and got the team duffle bag. .
Our Take: A sure sign that MLS marketing demographics have changed. It used to be that the celebrity fans of MLS clubs were sweet pop princesses like New England's Jojo, or DC United's Nelly Furtado (so it seemed anyway).. Now we have hardcore rappers like 50 Cent donning Toronto FC red and Mike Jones biggin' up the Dynamo, laid back ones like Snoop throwin up Chivas USA colors and Metal and Punk legends like Metallica and now Rancid evidently getting behind an MLS side.
Our opinion is Rancid is the perfect fit for a United side whose play last night in New York could be described as such.

Actually, Lars Frederiksen of Rancid is a supporter of San Jose, and the drummer is a Real Salt Lake man. They were both at the Real v. Earthquakes match earlier this season.
