INCOMING: Kasey Keller to Seattle Sounders FC?

Posted by MLSR Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Kasey Keller with Sounders FC owner Drew Carey at Mexico vs Brazil Friendly earlier this year in Seattle.

We put two and two together again and hopefully as in our Alexi Lalas and Ruud Gullit rumor, this pans out as well.

Two weeks ago we received the following short email:

"Hello Rumors,
I have it on good authority that Kasey Keller has signed with MLS. No idea where he will go but probably Seattle."

And now we have this announcement by the Sounders stating they will reveal a mystery player on the 14th of this month:

"You're invited to join Seattle Sounders FC in a special player announcement on Thursday, August 14th at Qwest Field. Gates will open at 2:00 PM.

You won't want to miss this historic event as the Sounders FC adds another to their 2009 roster.

Fans attending can park in the north lot of Qwest Field, and enter the stadium through the NW VIP gate where they will be directed to the field.

Attention youth players - you're encouraged to wear your team uniform! There will be an informal clinic led by members of the Sounders FC staff.

Join Sounders FC at Qwest Field on August 14th for this event - it is one that will certainly be remembered."

Gee, wonder who it will be?

  2. The word I got was that Kasey wanted nothing to do with the fieldturf.

  4. I'm a season ticket holder and I've not received any communication from the Sounders FC in regards to this Thursday, which seems strange as I did receive an email for the shirt sponsor announcement at Qwest Field. There isn't anything on their website either.

  8. Well then, must be either Henry or Ronaldhino...or both.

  9. Fans of Sounders FC are thinking it could be a double announcement.

  11. I would be surprised if he doesn't play at least a year in Seattle. If he doesn't play I can't see how they wouldn't try there best to get him involved in the orginazation. If they sign him they are off to a good start with a quality keeper and a forward already on the books.

  17. Are they gonna build a SSS or are they gonna play at Qwest? Because I'm sick of watching games on fake turf and runball lines.

  19. They will play at Qwest, which will look very much like an SSS when you see the way they close-off the 3rd level with large banners that stretch across the entire length of the pitch.

FO has already got an agreement for no "runball" lines except perhaps on a very few occassions when change overs can't be done in time.

Field turf is here to stay, time for us to get over it.

Keller is the conventional wisdom, some think Henry will be the "shocker" announcement.

  20. Guess what!?? It's Kasey Keller. He wanted to play for Seattle FC and it'll become offical on Thursday. Check out more details in link below from http://www.goalseattle.com/:
