This just fell into our inbox:
"I have it on good authority that Chad Barrett has been traded to Toronto FC along with another player to Toronto for rights to sign Brian McBride. The deal may also involve another player, possibly (Calen) Carr"
Commissioner Don Garber stated at halftime during the MLS All Star game that a deal with Toronto was brokered and would be announced Friday.

Please tell me this is not true. Barrett is no better than Cunningham or any of our current striking "options"...
I feel ill.
No way an injured play (Carr) will be in this deal, who ever feed you that is wrong. Its going to be Barrett, a first round pick and money. Why would Toronto accept a deal for an injured player anyways?
doubt that they'd add Carr to the list, seeing Carr is out with a Season Ending Injury......
perhaps Robinson??
but Ives is reporting its Barrett, early d.pick or allocation, and $$$
The price seems pretty high, but what has Toronto done to deserve anything. This system is just silly.
Star American wants to finish his career in MLS, what's taking so long? Hello McBride goodbye spare parts. As a Fire fan I'm glad to see Barret go, kinda like Carr but really want this done.
McBride is 36 and on his way out of the league. Barrett is 23, still developing as a striker, and starting to get some good experience on the international level. This is a stupid trade. Congrats Toronto.
and btw, Carr is NOT part of this trade so don't bother even discussing it.
Johnny....
Congrats Toronto? Have you seen Barrett play? I am a fire season ticket holder and I say good riddance to bad rubbish...have fun with Barrett quiting on you after 60 minutes, missing open nets, "cramping up", and of course "being hard on himself".
and btw....this allocation system is just plain retarded.
I warned everyone that this would happen. Chicago and Toronto reached a stalemate, and MLS probably stepped in said we own half of both teams and we want McBride in Chicago.
As I said that's what happened with LA and Dallas. LA wanted to keep Ruiz, MLS wanted Donovan in the league, and Donovan would only play for LA. So they forced LA to trade Ruiz for the Donovan allocation.
I don't believe this for one second. Why would Chicago give up Barrett now? McBride will be at the Olympics until the end of August. If Chicago is still in position to make the playoffs at that point then this deal could happen. If they fall apart and out of the playoffs McBride sits until next season and Toronto gets nothing.
George,
You're missing the fact that Chad is 23 years old and getting better. He was absolutely on fire the first few games of the year. Each year he's progressed. All he has is upside. What is the point of taking on a huge contract for a guy who will be in the Olympics for the next month and not on the team at all in 3 years? For all the frustrating moments I'm sure you've endured watching Chad play, he DOESN'T quit and he has loads of potential that is just being seen. I don't see him in Toronto for long given that this is his contract season...he will have a good career playing abroad. Watch it happen.
