In what will surely be greeted with cries of glee by Red Bull supporters, Claudio "Captain America" Reyna appears to be hanging up his boaots according to this ESPN Soccernet article.
Here is an excerpt:
After a 14-year professional career, former U.S. national team captain and New York Red Bulls midfielder Claudio Reyna is retiring immediately, sources within MLS confirmed on Tuesday.
Reyna's retirement frees up a Designated Player slot that he team is expected to use to sign a forward to replace Jozy Altidore, who was sold to Villarreal last month.

YES!!! With all due respect to Captain America, but the team needs some new blood and constant injuries can't be good for Reyna's pace and mentality. I hope he coaches in the future since he has deep knowledge of the game in the States and abroad.
Bruce Arena should be banned from US soccer just for signing Reyna as a DP. Talk about players coming over from Europe to collect one last paycheck...
