Red Bull New York announced Tuesday it will introduce two new players, Venezuelan national team veteran Jorge Rojas and Argentine defender Juan Pietravallo, on Wednesday. Various reports indicated New York had already signed Rojas, and Pietravallo is another addition New York confirmed Tuesday.
"We've come to personal terms with Jorge Rojas and now await a physical, a P-1 [visa] and approval from the league," Red Bulls Sporting Director Jeff Agoos told the New York Post.
Rojas, 31, who can play wing or attacking midfielder, is Venezuela's second- most capped player. He's won four league titles in his country with Caracas and another in Colombia with Atletico Nacional during his career.
Pietravallo, 26, is defensive midfielder. He currently plays with Greek first division side Veria. He has also played with Nueva Chicago and Belgrano in his home country.
Rojas and Pietravallo could make their Major League Soccer debuts on July 19 when the Red Bulls host the Los Angeles Galaxy at Giants Stadium.
"It will be a good measure to see how my conditions and my form are," Rojas said. "I will have 15 or 20 days to prepare myself for that match."
New York (5-4-5), which is sixth in the Eastern Conference, visits the Colorado Rapids on Friday.
