I would like to remain anonymous on the following if you choose to publish it.
This comes to us via email from an source wishing anonymity.
I was able to glean the following while sitting at a table behind to Merritt Paulson and some ‘other guy’ at the Starbucks across from PGE Park earlier this week.
- Merritt Paulson will be launching a website in the “next couple of weeks” outlining a stadium proposal.
- The other guy is also launching a website next week that is a “grassroots” effort by people supporting MLS.
- The other guy’s website has some sort of contest with a “cash prize”?
- One of these sites (couldn’t tell which) will feature a “letter to the city” campaign of some sort.
- They don’t seem to work together. The other guy didn’t look like a ‘suit’, and generally they didn’t seem to be ‘coordinating’, just sharing information on what sound like two separate projects. The other guy actually did most of the talking.
- Merritt Paulson drinks some kind of flavored tall latte.
Bottom line, nothing sounded like a MLS announcement was imminent. Clearly something is in the works though involving a public campaign and we’ll know more as early as next week. Also, a local blogger noted that the public meeting schedule of Mayor Elect Sam Adams included several meetings with Merritt Paulson on MLS over the last couple of weeks. You may have also already noted that Sam Adams office window also has a Timbers Army scarf hanging from the window.

I heard at Starbucks that people make up stuff and email it to sites like this.
