We just received the following in our email:

"Dear MLS RUMORS,
Huge visitor to your site and a long time revs fan. I just hear on my local new station in New Hampshire (WMUR) that a plane from Logan Airport, MA had to make an emergency stop in Kansas City because supposedly a person on the flight stripped down naked, changed clothes and then tried to open the door of the plane. The person in question was taken down by members of the NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION THAT WERE ON THE FLIGHT. No names were released during the TV report. Just goes to show you that the revs are just as tough in the air as they are on the field. (I wonder if the person was a Fire fan :)

Sincerely,
(name witheld)"

Here is an excerpt from the an official story in the Boston Herald.

A scare in the skies on a California-bound plane out of Boston was averted today when members of the New England Revolution - including its coach - helped subdue an unruly naked passenger who was trying to open an emergency exit, sources tell the Herald.

Sources said two Revolution players and another team employee were among those who restrained the nude man before the flight crew joined in.

The fracas broke out around 2 p.m. aboard American Airlines [AMR] Flight 725 as the Revs were heading to Los Angeles to play Chivas USA as part of the SuperLiga Tournament.

More after the jump.

FLASHBACK: Toronto FC Air Scare As Plane Makes Emergency Landing.

EDITORS NOTE:

After all the negative press MLS has received in the last few days from "BlancoGate" to the MLS Players Union exposing the fact that the MLS teams which might win SuperLiga would not get $1 million dollars to the story out of England about West Ham players being flown economy class you had to wonder when a story like the above would come along to wipe the slate clean.

  2. you cant open an emergency exit door in-flight because of the positive pressures inside the plane is much greater than the outside. i would have just sat there and laughed at the guy

  6. Haha...BlancoGate. Come on, no one really notices or cares about that. It's over. It's not like some huge disaster for the league or anything...the league is still healthier than its ever been.

On a side note, what an awesome story :).

  10. woop woop! New England took him down? screw that im sure and i know a lot of people think they pry beat the living hell of the guy.

Besides that, leave it to the "Revolution" to be patriotic aboard a plane.

  12. I agree with the changes.
Going single-table is a must. it should eliminate these plane scares.

  14. Sorry to be a downer, but I fail to see the "patriotism" in this. Some nut job stripped naked and tried to open a door that couldn't be opened. Wasn't a terrorist attack or anything and I'm sure the guy wasn't much of a threat.

  16. No clean slate here.

It was staff not the players. The players thought the Fire was on board to play them in a playoff game so they all hid under their seats.

Everyone knows N.E. players are big chokes in crunchtime
