AUDIO: Fighting Breaks Out At Superliga Match at RFK Stadium

SuperLiga stirs up a lot of passion in fans. The players play with passion and often this passion sparks flare ups of tempers in the stands. As shown in the above picture taken during last year's SuperLiga final between LA Galaxy and Pachuca, where the Galaxy's LA Riot Squad got into it with Pachuca supporters.

Well it happened again on the the opposite coast at the very first match of the 2008 edition of SuperLiga. In a match where there were unconfirmed reports of Chivas fans somehow disrupting the game by shutting down half of the stadium's lights, thus giving Guadalajara a much needed rest, tempers flared. The audio comes courtesy of the Soccer Show on Washington DC's WJFK Radio.

Those must have been crew fans in disguise. Remove columbus from the league!

How can you insult chivas. DC Utd fans are just as classless. It take two to tango.

how far are we from having separate seating and separate entrances with those yellow uniforms standing between the supporter sections? I don't even know if that is a bad thing cuz that would mean violence is a serious issue, or a good thing cuz it would show that mls fans are as passionate about their clubs as the rest of the world.

Reminder: Racist comments won't be tolerated here so don't post em eh?

they need to do something but its gonna take someone to get seriously injured or killed first.

How is this news new? Every match against the MExicans has involved a fight, while there might be occasional fights throughout the stadium for games against olimipa or another central/south american or eurpoean teams. ITS not racism its the truth Mexicans can not handle there alcohol and try to act like superman. That is until he wakes up in a DC Garbage bin. Violence has happend in our section and in LOT8 of RFK for the following matches...

Against Chivas 2006
Chivas 2007
America 2007
Morelia 2007
Pachuca 2008

and included fist fights, bottle throwing, Mexicans trying to jump DC fans. A mexican raming his head on the concrete wall and passing out after being highly intoxicated(funny he had a jesus christ tatoo, i guess he forgot what belief in GOD means) A mexican getting chased by a dc fan in a car. me having to go get therapy for seeing so many ugly people.

All of this is true except of course the one about me visitng a therapist.

Last year's superliga final broke into fights because of all mexican fans 50% were pachuca fans and the other 50% were Meixcan league fans bandwagoning and only showing up to "see Galaxy lose"

Another example of the sweet poetry of the beautiful game bringing people together.

i was at the game and i didnt experience anything upsetting. i was sitting in between the barra and a huge group of chivas fans.

How could they shut down the lights?

And if they did, can we force Chivas to give u the 3 points? I was really pissed after Jaime missed the PK, because we DEFINITELY should have won that game. There is no denying that. 2 post shots, a missed pk, and a Luci goal make it 4-2.

Last years Superliga final had its moments in the stands...the biggest thing was that the Pachuca fans couldn't take any smack talk (during the course of the match) back from the Riot Squad after they (pachuca fans) were the guys starting "puso-puto" etc. chants.

"Reminder: Racist comments won't be tolerated here so don't post em eh?"

"Chivas are a bunch of diving bastard dirty Mexicans, there's a reason nobody likes them."

"most of chivas' squad cuts my grass"

Oops. Crew fans regulate racism better than you...

Fair enough. We removed those comments.

Now, had the person said, "Chivas players are a bunch of divers."

That would have been ok as it is an opinion independent of them being Mexican.

this type of violence and racism needs to stop. If you really love soccer/football/futbol and want it to be taken seriously in the US then we need to take a hard line stance against these idiotic displays.

Chivas#1, not to single you out but, "Adios "Soccer", Futbol es aqui!"??...bring the passion, but leave the 3rd world street brawls at home.
