In an audio interview with a Crew blog, Columbus GM Mark McCullers claimed among other things that:
* Toronto forced the league to take action that resulted in the Columbus enforcement of a ban against throwing streamers on the pitch in Columbus.
* He and DC United's front office gave birth to the Screaming Eagles (an organization which pre-dates United) and La Barra Brava.
* Complains that media attention to the racist and other incidents in Columbus was overblown.

What was not asked nor addressed was what has been done about the racist who was on the video which lead to the uproar? Mysteriously no one knows who he is or has even bothered to ask about him or other fans who could be heard hurling racist remarks.

How can he claim that he or the DC FO had ANYTHING to do with the Screaming Eagles when we existed before he even had a job. Ridiculous. He needs to shut up and do something about his racist fans.
To be fair he did have a job at the time when things had to be smoothed over between the Barra Brava and Front Office happened but other than that, we agree he could be classier.
And he had nothing to do with the Screaming Eagles. Nor the creation of the Barra Brava to the best of our knowledge.

Because he didn't have anthing to do with the creation of such groups in DC. They existed already. The fans make the atmosphere not the front office. Columbus just doesn't have the kind of diverse, soccer intelligent fan base that DC has so moving Mark McCullers there wasn't going to suddenly cause a Columbus Barra Brava to spring up.
That's why his comments are so pompous.
McCullers is the man and the Crew are MASSIVE.

Wow, dude who just made the comment the Revolution has played 2 more games than the Crew. And Mccullers did not claim he "invented" the DC fan base, he just said he was part of the team when that was happening. He also did not blame Toronto for the banning of anything, he said that since the streamers "started" in Toronto (which the 1st team i saw using them was Chivas USA when they 1st came in the league) everybody else has been using them so it got out of hand. Im sorry that some dumb ass said an unappropriate word and that some people threw beer on Ralston, it does not mean u have to call them kkk and say they should leave the city. Columbus is a fine and respectful town.
