As one deal appears closer in Houston, another seems to be fading from view in Washington DC.

From Houston we have this video which details where things stand after Thursday's meeting.

And in Washington, DC our source on all things Poplar Point updates us with the following grim news:

Wassup! NBC 4 local News reports that the DC government has recessed without making a decision on the DC United Stadium issue. This is the second time that the DC government left without making a decision about the stadium. Due to the problems that they had with the Nationals $600 million dollar stadium, they are still trying to make sure that they are making a great deal. Now, DC United may have to wait until the fall for a decision on the Poplar Point site, if DC still wants it. Also, the team's lease of RFK Stadium ends at the end of the season.

  2. what does he mean by "PG United seems closer". As a resident of Northern Virginia and a follower of DC United, what probably will happen is if they can't get a stadium in DC, then they will look for a northern virginia or southern maryland to build a stadium. For example Fedex Field the home of the Redskins is in Maryland. Any county in Virginia or Maryland would kill to have DC's stadium in their county.

  4. i vote to renovate RFK. this is recockulous! they can seemingly run the world but can't say yes or no to build a stadium.

  6. I have two questions.
    1. Would the Dynamo share the stadium with University of Houston?
    2. DC is the only tenant at RFK. Why not renovate? The Nats outfield wall is still behind goal. RFK could be a better soccer venue.

  8. The hole point of leaving RFK is so that DC owns its own stadium. DC United would still have to pay rent if they were to stay at a renovated RFK. DC United also wants to get money from concession sales which it doesn't now. After DC United leaves it, RFK is going to be demolished.

  10. would DC ever sell RFK? if DCU could buy it for a fair price and renovate, it would be a pretty good situation.
