Its about that time. The time when the silly season is fully underway in Europe and when MLS clubs are looking to make mid-season changes. The sale of Jozy Altidore to Villarreal, for a nice chunk of change, $10 million also makes us consider the other side of the equation as MLS fans wonder, who they might loose as well. If you know of any other transfer rumors feel free to pass them on to us.
So like we did back in January we are going to cover transfers and rumors of transfers. Here is a rundown of active rumors:
INCOMING:
Ronaldinho to LA Galaxy
Rating : -1 (Are you Crazy!?)
Source: Nearly every tabloid and quite a few legitimate news sources in Spain and in the UK
We never bothered publishing the initial rumor as it was way to outragous. Henry to Seattle was at least somewhat believable but this was over the top. However, that didn't sto nearly every tabloid and news outlet from passing it on though.
Might as well put this one to rest from the start He is not coming. Period.
Edgar Davids to LA Galaxy
Rating: 2 (Not likely)
Source: Based upon a photo and this story.
So Edgar Davids is training in the home of the stars.....
Perhaps its due to Ruud Gullit?
Perhaps LA Galaxy has hired former ENRON people to manage their salary cap and perhaps Edgar Davids will join Abel Xavier and company in the Galaxy's back line. But we think this is mere California Dreamin'. For now. After this season is over who knows?
Clint Mathis to LA Galaxy
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Source: This story and the photo above of him back from Greece and training with the Galaxy.
Now this is actually believable. We suspect he might sign for a low salary and a lifetime supply of Dr Pepper soda.
Osman Chavez to LA Galaxy
Rating: 5 (Very Good - Done deal)
Source: ESPN Deportes Radio
The Galaxy sure can use the Honduran defender.
Brian McBride to Chicago Fire via Toronto FC
Rating: 5 (Done Deal)
Source: We have been assured by a trusted source that this is going to happen barring disaster.
Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista to CD Chivas USA
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Multiple reports in Spanish language papers indicate this could happen.
Ramon Morales to CD Chivas USA
Rating: 4 (Good)
Multiple reports in Spanish language papers indicate this could happen.
Jared Borghetti to Houston Dynamo
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Source: Spanish language TV news interview with Oscar De La Hoya
Jorge "Zurdo" Rojas to Red Bull New York
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Multiple reports indicate this signing should happen sometime soon.
Paul Dickov to Red Bull New York
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Source: Sky Sports UK
The former Manchester City forward could be in demand by a team who just lost both of its star strikers, one due to a transfer the other due to injury.
John Raus to Red Bull New York
Rating: 4 (Good)
Source: LKS Lomza
The American striker who once played for Seton Hall and signed with LKS Lomza in Poland's 2nd Division, is on trial with the Red Bulls. Red Bull needs strikers.
Sebastian Schindzielorz to Real Salt Lake
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Source: Deseret News
They certainly could use the help of the German midfielder who currently plays his football with Levadiakos in the Greek 1st division (Super League Greece).
Manuel Vallaurio to DC United
Rating: 5 (Very good)
Source: Soccer Insider
The Monaco goalkeeper is on trial with the capital club.
If he is at all capable of a shutout game then United would be foolish not to bring him in in the place of Zack "Butterfingers" Wells.
Gary Doherty to San Jose Earthquakes
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Source: San Jose Mercury News, Norfolk Eastern Daily Press
They could use him.
Greg Dalby to Colorado Rapids
Rating: 5 (Very Good)
Source: The Denver Post
The deal is rumored to be done. More later this week.
-------------And here is where the fans worry ...........
OUTGOING:
Brad Guzan to Aston Villa
Rating: 4 (Good)
Source: Multiple Sources
This deal is going to happen sooner or later.![]()
Taylor Twellman to Preston North End
Rating: 3 (Possible but unlikely)
Source: Vitalfootball.co.uk
Just when you thought the Twellman saga was over leave it to the summer window and Vital Football to re-open the whole thing again.
Rating: 4 (Good)
Source: The People UK, Teamtalk
According to the article Sir Alex is interested in the young FC Dallas player and scouts are on their way to Texas.

Michael Parkhurst to Ipswich Town or Fulham
Rating: 3 (Possible)
Source: American Soccer Reader
This rumor has hung around too long to discount.

Maurice Edu to Middlesbrough or Sunderland
Rating: 3 (Possible but Unlikely)
Source: Tribal Football article
The rumors about him going to a club in England overlook one vital thing.. He may not be eligible for a work visa as he has not played in the required number of games for the US yet. Key world yet..

Kenny Cooper to unspecified European club
Rating: 3 (Not likely)
Source: 3rd Degree Blog
According to the report, MLS turned down an initial offer of $1 million dollars. As we have seen the transfer fees increase for American MLS players this offer likely will be raised but we suspect it will still be too low for FC Dallas and MLS.
