This comes to us via our mailbag:
" I've never written ya'll before but i thought this was pretty big news so I thought it would be useful for your website.

It was shown by a Mexican News Show (show to be named after i find out which one it was) that broadcasts here in Houston that, Oscar De La Hoya has shown interest and is going to stop at nothing to bring Jared borgetti to the big orange machine. They have been talking and are about to come to a deal.
I will try to get more info as it comes."

The Italian-Mexican forward currently plays his club football for CF Monterrey and has previously been linked to a move to MLS in 2006 and 2007. The question is who would the Dynamo give up to make room for a Designated Player?

Here's video of Borghetti in action:

  2. god i hate borghetti. hes a dirty player... just a big bully. that may work in mexico where he is the biggest player but when he met world class bullies in the premier league he crumbled. i would become an instant houston hater if he came to america.

  4. OoHh Sweet Jesus for the Love of everything footy, NoooooooooooooOoooooooo!! Why can't we use our DP money for someone better. I mean, yes he will put butts in the stands but we need speed and attacking skill for years to come. We need to build

  6. That would be a waste of money and allocation. He's a static player. He doesn't move. He waits for balls to be served. He doesn't fit the style of MLS.
It would be a bad move by Dynamo and I'm not even a Dynamo fan.

  10. may not be as good as he was, and im not his biggest fan either, but it would bring more attention to mls, like blanco did.

  12. I think the rating for this one should be downgraded to 1 or maybe 0. The static Borghetti does not fit Dynamo's motion style of play at all. There are several great players in the FMF and Borghetti was certainly one of the best, but he's no Temoc. Dynamo has gotten known for picking diamonds out of piles of poop and it would be more like the franchise top pick a superstar languishing on a mid-table team than Borghetti.
