El Heraldo of Tegucigalpa is reporting that the New England Revolution have signed George Wilson Welcome, a U-23 Honduran International. The preliminary contract is for 6 months and he will join his countryman Mauricio Castro, who's been off to a great start in the 2008 campaign.
After a great Olympic Qualifying Tournament in March 2008, Welcome transferred to Honduran giants CD Motagua from second division side Arsenal de las Islas de la Bahía. Yet to play first division football, Welcome is seeking better options for his career. "It's the opportunity I was hoping for... I will work my hardest to represent my country," he says. "I know that I have to get much better, but with hard work and effort, I can become a great goal scorer."
The Revs will release more details once Welcome arrives in the United States.
Here's video of him playing in the Olympic Qualifying tournament, which Honduras won.

Wow. That kid is legit.
After the Olympic qualifying tourney a was wondering were this kid would end up and I wanted him in MLS. I'm very surprised it took this long but its a good signing.
Wow, impressvie.
Is central america taking the heat off south amerca? The Revs signings this year have looked great, and they've come cheap.
Steve Nicol is really making the rest of the league look foolish by comparison by being one step ahead of the curve.
