DC United has been linked in this Guardian article to the Australian striker currently playing his club football for Newcastle United. The move would certainly mean that DC United's 2nd Designated Player, Brazilian striker, Luciano Emilio is done with the capital club.
Here is Viduka in action:

I'm not trying to get anyone's hopes up, but before the last world cup, Fox Deportes en Espanol interviewed every national team coach.
During his interview, Arena mentioned that Mark Viduka was one of many players that he would like to coach someday. There was others, but his name stuck out.
Coincedence? Hmmmmm?
No rating of liklihood?
Mark Viduka is a speacial player. He is a rare player who offers 2really good qualities. He is big and physical. The decieving thing about viduka is for a big guy he has quite a finesse touch; kinda like Peter Crouch. But I will say this much. I think it would be great for DC United to bring him in, but I don't think Viduka is the complete answer. There are a few other things that need tweaking at DC.
