This just fell into our inbox from one of our sources on all things Seattle.
"Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that this name vote is weighted. People who have made season ticket deposits votes are given more weight than people who haven't, people with Seattle are given more weight than those without, and people in the state of Washington are given more weight than those from outside it.To me this is fair and seems reasonable though it may serve to negate any ballot stuffing efforts by Sounders name supporters."
Seattle MLS has announced to the media that they will reveal the name, colors (presumably green) and crest at noon on Monday at the Space Needle:
**MEDIA ADVISORY**
MLS Seattle to Reveal Name, Badge and Colors
WHAT: MLS Seattle name, badge and colors announcement
WHO: Joe Roth Majority Owner, MLS Seattle Adrian Hanauer
Owner & General Manager, MLS Seattle, Tod Leiweke CEO, Vulcan Sports & Entertainment

The news conference will be available via satellite. Specific coordinates will be available later in the week.
And according to this report, Seattle FC and the write in candidate Seattle Sounders are the two frontrunners.
If we had to make a prediction, due to the closed nature of this press conference, we'd guess that they will split the difference and Seattle FC Sounders or Seattle Sounders FC it is.

So if it's weighted to give favor to the votes for locals in Seattle and Washington State, how does this hurt the chances of the "Sounders" name living on? Last time I checked, all the people making the push to keep the name were from Seattle. So...yeah. Don't get the logic.
The logic is this: Most of the pro-Sounders effort took place online and it stands to reason that many of the pro-Sounders were from people who did not put down a deposit, live in Seattle or Washington.
The assumption that most people in Seattle want the name Sounders is just that. There could easily be as many Seattle FC supporters amongst season ticket depositers. We just don't know, but the fact that Seattle FC and Sounders are the two leading choices, we do know.
