INCOMING: Wason Renteria to Red Bull New York? (UPDATE)

Rating: 3 (Possible)

This is just an update on our rumor about Colombian striker Wason Renteria potentially going to Red Bull New York, first reported here, on Tuesday.

Spanish language publication Futbol Red is now reporting on the interest and has this quote from the player:

"Le agrada tener ofertas de diferentes países y que no descarta ninguna opción siempre y cuando sea una buena propuesta". Or rather, "he does not rule out any option if it is a good proposal." This perhaps is in answer to critics of this rumor who stated that he was too young, or too good for MLS.

There are many reasons players chose to come to MLS and the big stage afforded to some while playing and relative anonymity when away from the pitch, can be just as attractive to younger players as well as the money.

Red Bull New York, being owned by Red Bull International, based in Austria is certainly not poor nor afraid to spend money on someone of value. With young American star Josimer Altidore sure to leave the club this summer or next winter, possibly for Real Madrid, the Renteria transfer would make sense as an "insurance" acquisition.

Nor should we underestimate the pull of former Manchester City man, and New York manager Juan Carlos Osorio, when it comes to obtaining the transfer of his countrymen.

  2. That's the great thing about the internet and "anonymous" responses.

You don't have to worry about candor, manners, or civility. Just type whatever childish rant pops into your egotistical little brain! No consequences! No worries!
