While DC United and Real Salt Lake had a busy off season signing international players it looks like FC Dallas is leading the way as far as casting a wide net for internationals to bring in on trial. It seems every day we learn about another one headed to Pizza Hut Park.

The latest is Gustavo Cabrera, the 28 year old defender from Guatemala. He most recently played in this nations match vs Argentina, the 5-0 romp which took place on Wednesday.

He has been capped 58 times by Guatemala, played for Real Salt lake in their inaugural season and now plays his club football at Comunicaciones.

Here is video of Cabrera in action:

  2. when will you all understand that FCD called in like 15 people for a trial this past week...most of them if not all of them will not sign with the club...its very misleading when you put a headline of "INCOMING: so-and-so to FC Dallas" ...plus its not a rumor if the club announces the fact that they are there on trial...

  4. Whoa, Trigger!

    Why the hostility?

I thought it was interesting. Sure, maybe they had 15 trials, but I doubt all of them are regulars for their national team.

    Keep it coming!

  6. it's not even a rumor though, the other poster had a point, as nice as it is that they report it they are a little misleading with how they word things...maybe it should be something like "Trialist to FCD" or something like...making it look like the player is going to sign with the club by putting "INCOMING" on the headline is very misleading really..

  8. Agreed. It's a very low profile trial. Anytime the highlight package shows him playing for RSL, who cares?
