Rumor has it that the 30 year old Swiss international defensive midfielder who has been capped 75 times for Switzerland has signed for Chivas USA. He was part of the Swiss national team in Euro 1996, Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup. This player would certainly serve a need. He has played for Werder Bremen and Atletico Madrid among others. Wicky however comes to Chivas USA from Swiss side FC Sion the club he started out at and ended up returning to after losing his place with the first team at Hamburger SV.
Wicky arrived in the USA back in August 2007 and trained with Chivas USA then.
Here is some video of Wicky in action:

This is a done deal from what I understand. Should be announced Thursday.
I'm not sure what need this serves?
Chivas have two very good Defensive Mids in Marsch and Nagamura, that combined very well together in 2007.
I agree with Anonymous about Marsch & Nagamura. But this is going to be Marsch's last year. Good coaches make personnel turnover happen throughout the year. Wicky will fit into the Chivas system better if he is playing/practicing with the guy he is going to replace. Not that Wicky does n't have good credentials, but its a matter of making the players comfortable with the transition.
I think this would be a good move. Then we could push Atiba to the left, and eventually groom a replacement for Mendoza (who also leaves next year).
I'm sorry a guy who started four games in the most recent World Cup is not playing behind Marsch and Nagamura. More likely he'll start at right back.
